Troop 185 Wreath Sale

Please consider using the form on
this web page
to enter your orders. Just fill in the customer's name and address and the
number of each size of wreath. When you submit the order, you will get a
confirmation, including the total price of the order.
You will need to know the user name and password for the protected areas of
this site. If you have forgotten these, you can find them on the calendar
that was handed out at the first meeting, or ask someone.
Please send an e-mail to Mr. Fisher, and he will send you a pasword. You can enter orders without a pasword, but you will need it to view the orders you have already entered. This is because we consider your list of orders to be private information. The pasword will also save you some typing: many orders from last year are already in the system, and you will not have to re-enter the customer names and addresses for these orders.
The main advantage of the web-based order system is that we will have a permanent record of your orders. This will help you next year, since the easiest sales are to your customers from the previous year. It will also help the troop pass on your customer list to another scout when the time comes for you to leave the troop.
If you enter your orders as you go, rather than waiting for the deadline, then you will not be rushed at the end. Of course, either the web version or the spreadsheet method ensures that your customers' names and addresses will be legible.

For the 2008 Wreath Sale you will again have the choice of recording your sales on paper or doing it in the computer. You and your parents have been emailed an excel spreadsheet that will allow you to enter your sales and then email them to Mr. Fisher when you are done. This year, there is a new option: you can enter your orders using a form on the troop's web site.

Open the attachment and save it as "Your Name - Wreath Orders". If you need more than one page, just save the additional pages as "Your Name - Wreath Orders page 2" etc.
Print out a copy to take your orders and then enter them into the computer, it will check your math. The page is protected so you can’t do anything but enter info in to the name, address, quantity sold, and paid lines.
When done email the form(s) to Mr. Fisher by November 17th.
If you don’t have excel and do not want to use the web, then you can use the paper forms handed out at the Troop meeting on October 20th. When you are done – turn in a copy to Mr. Fisher by November 17th at the Troop meeting. Keep a copy for your use.
Put cash and checks in an envelope with your name on it. If you are handing in an order form (hard copy), put that in the envelope, too. Give me the envelope at a troop meeting. If there is time, the best practice is to sit down and count the money together before you hand it over, to make sure that you and I agree on how much there is.
There is a firm deadline to get all the orders in, so we know how many wreaths to order. If the money comes in a week later, that is less of a problem. Just send me an e-mail so I know what to expect. Also send an e-mail if you have to leave money at my house when I am not there.
The commission incentive is the same as last year. After you sell $100 worth of wreaths you get 20% of everything above the $100. Example: If you sell $275 worth of wreaths you earn $35 (275-100 = 175 x 20% = $35).
All orders will then be picked up the weekend of November 29th & 30th. We will have a sign up for you to pick a time, so all wreaths get delivered by Thanksgiving weekend.
The wreath size and diameter are both listed on the form. The size is the center of the wreath – the diameter is approximately the TOTAL WIDTH of the wreath. So if you need a wreath that is 24" across order a 14" or 16" wreath.
The wreaths are made of Balsam Fir. They are made in Canada & Maine.
You should be collecting the money when you sell – then you can just deliver the wreaths when they arrive. Have checks made payable to: Boy Scout Troop 185 .
